When Life Overlaps

We’ve all seen a Venn Diagram – whether in school growing up or in a business meeting, it’s a common illustration to show how things relate to one another. There are overlapping circles and where those circles intersect, there is commonality and mutual agreement. If my life was a Venn Diagram, Rolla Bradley would be very near to the center.

Rolla is a friend, mentor, teacher and now past client of mine! For over a dozen years, he has poured into me life in all kinds of ways. When I was in ministry as a pastor, currently in real estate and in life in general, I have benefited from the wisdom, insightful questions and counsel from this man. We have spent countless hours talking over meals and on the phone, and it’s no exaggeration to say he has been one of the most influential men in my life.

Malcolm Gladwell popularized the idea that it takes 10,000 hours to become an expert in something; whether we play the guitar, write, design websites or pursue any other field of expertise, becoming proficient takes an incredibly long time. I’m thankful for all the hours spent with Rolla, because he clearly is an expert on pursuing life with wisdom and maturity, and I know it has impacted me.

I am certainly not a finished product and far from an expert in life, but Rolla has helped me immensely in my journey on this path. He is a man who loves Jesus and leads by example, but also encourages and walks alongside others. I am simply a better man for knowing him! I was honored to be able to help him sell his parents’ house in New Braunfels. Though it turned out to be a difficult transaction, it was my joy and pleasure to serve his family and go above and beyond to make sure that it was done right. I am so thankful to get to serve my friend and mentor and I love that we got to enter the center of the Venn Diagram of my life together.

Congratulations Bradley family!
